We operate in London, Lisbon and Kolkata which are some of the world’s oldest and most important food cities. Gunpowder is a progressive and modern Indian restaurant founded in 2015 in London, United Kingdom.
The kitchen, under the leadership of Chef Patron Nirmal Save, focuses on family recipes collected over time from the coastal and mountain regions of south west India. Our first restaurant celebrates a decade of culinary excellence and has added branches in Tower Bridge, Soho (London) & Chiado (Lisbon).
Gunpowder’s original site in Spitalfields has received the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand 2016 in its first year of operation in addition to the Tower Bridge restaurant in London receiving the Michelin Plate award in 2019.
We are proud to have held the Michelin Bib Gourmand award since our inception.


Empire Empire

Empire Empire is a ‘curry house’ from the original team behind Gunpowder. Founded in 2023 it specialises in kebabs cooked over charcoal and authentic Indian curries and breads paired with Champagne and low intervention wines.
Offering retro 80's dinner party vibes in Notting Hill, this neighbourhood restaurant is inspired by the legendary dinner parties hosted by our founder’s father where the ‘booze’ never stopped and food was always hot and delicious. The restaurant is a celebration of not only great food and natural sparkling wines but also cult Indian music and the families carefully acquired artwork. Baweja Sr’s motto in life is and will always be "Share the love, share the food."
Empire Empire received a Michelin Bib Gourmand within 6 months of opening and remains a neighbourhood fixture hosting its many famous residents.


Moi et Toi

Founded in 2023 this French bakery is a result of the friendship between British-French Chef Edward Delling-Williams and Harneet Baweja.
The bakery uses British and French flour and butter to make laminated pastries and eclectic tarts.
The bakery has two locations in London, Notting Hill in the West and Tower Bridge in the East. The head baker is Yazdin Pardiwala.


Fortune Fried Chicken

Master Jackie is a Chinese restaurant in Kolkata,India. Born out of the Baweja family's love for movie star Jackie Chan and their obsession for Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is led by Restaurateur Avneet Baweja.
Kolkata, the Baweja family's place of origin, boasts to be the only official China Town in India and its proximity to Southeast Asian countries has defined the cuisine of the establishment. The interiors are reflective of the glory days of the private members' clubs dotted across the city.
Our menu features classic Chinese dishes, such as pan-fried noodles, chili chicken, dumplings, and crispy duck. Each dish is meticulously crafted to provide an authentic and memorable dining experience, celebrating the rich culinary heritage of China and ‘China Towns’ across the region.
